Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip

410-film-page-largeYou know, Alvin’s a classic. These chipmunk movies only get better and better. This particular film is the journey three furry friends set out on to save Dave from a possible proposal. Because of miscommunication, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are worried that Dave may dump them, or, even worse… That they may gain a terrible stepbrother. It stars Bella Thorne, Jason Lee, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley. The movie will be released December 18.

This film portrays the narrative of a family across four generations, and one woman who rises to take on a very powerful business dynasty. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Deniro, and Bradley Cooper, Joy is said to be an outrageously fun film. The unforgiving world of commerce is a perfect set for allies and betrayals as Joy’s inner compass and wit guide her–and the audience–through the storm-ridden sea of trade. Get ready though, it’s supposed to be an emotional roller coaster! It will be released on Christmas Day.

The Revenant Movie

Set in the 1820, Leonardo DiCaprio plays Hugh Glass, a frontiersman driven by revenge. The Revenant seizes Glass’s epic feat of survival, and the incredible brawn and strength of the soul. In a journey through the American Frontier, acclaimed explorer Hugh Glass is barbarically mauled by a bear and abandoned by his own hunting team. Enduring unfathomable pain, Glass must withstand the winter in pursuit of his double-crossing confidant and the security of the his family.

“It was the most difficult film, I think, that many of us had ever done.”

Leonardo DiCaprio

As strange as this plot sounds, it’s inspired by true events. Director Alejandro Inarritu regales the production of the movie, saying that they were sometimes filming in 30-below temperatures. He began scouting for the perfect place to shoot half a decade ago, just to know every location in advance, so the actors and film crew could operate as well as they could, and as warmly as they could. Variety called this film, “one of the most years most anticipated” works. The movie will be in theaters January 8. You won’t want to miss it.

The Hateful Eight

Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning a Quentin Tarantino masterpiece premiering on January 8 as well. The Hateful Eight is a western taking place in the post-Civil War time in Wyoming. Bounty hunters are searching to find shelter during a record-breaking blizzard when instead they find themselves in the midst of deception. The real kicker: Samuel L. Jackson will be in it. Need we say any more? We really didn’t think so.
