Fun Fall Family Activities (that won’t break the bank!)

downloadFall is a wonderful time of year to spend some time with your family.  There are many activities available in the fall because the weather is so beautiful and the holiday season is in full swing.  Below are some ideas for having a great time with your family without busting your budget.

Go to a Pick-Your-Own farm with your family.  Picking your own fruits and vegetables is a rewarding and money saving fall activity.  Kids love the freedom of choosing their own foods, and parents will love the savings.  Purchasing fruit this way will cost you some time, but it can be time well spent bonding with your family and the monetary savings will be unbeatable.

Make homemade Halloween costumes together.  After you and your family have decided on who or what you would like to dress up as for Halloween, visit the craft store and spend a day constructing costumes together.  This is a great way to keep children busy on a cold fall day and it doubles as their Halloween costume.  Viola, a great day of crafting and you won’t have to purchase an expensive costume later.

Whip up some traditional fall snacks and beverages.  There are some many delicious recipes associated with this time of year.  Try your hand at homemade apple cider, create a pumpkin pie with the kids, or make some stove top hot chocolate.

Have a family fright-night.  Rent some classic scary flicks and curl up in a blanket for your very own horror marathon.  Don’t like scary movies?  Try a night of holiday classics instead.

Carve/Decorate a pumpkin.  This may seem cliché but who doesn’t like carving pumpkins?  It’s a fun, cheap way to decorate your home for fall.   If you don’t want to hassle with carving, you can always paint your pumpkin instead.

Go to a local corn maze.  Generally corn mazes have a haunted maze and a regular maze.  With these two options you’re sure to satisfy every family member.
