National Scholarship Month

Next week marks the first week in national scholarship month. The month of November is devoted to raising students’ awareness of possible means for financial aid that are not detrimental to the student’s financial wellbeing. This means being scholarships.

National scholarship month is sponsored by The National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA), which promotes student access to higher education through scholarships.

Students are encouraged to apply for all scholarships in which they are eligible for, in order to alleviate the cost of higher education and to allow less money used in student loans and put on credit cards.

Students can find several large scholarship matching sites to help in their search, such as www.fastweb.com.

For more information about national scholarship month visit http://www.finaid.org/scholarships/nationalscholarshipmonth.phtml.

And remember, it is never too late to begin funding your education. Start applying for scholarships now! Some have deadlines even as early as December for the following academic year starting in August.

If you are already a student you may still apply for scholarships, such as continuing education scholarships. The more scholarships you receive the less funding that will come out of your pocket.
